Activities 2003-2004

Club Accomplishments (new programs highlighted)

Rotary International/Foundation Support

  • Contributed $5,000 to PolioPlus
  • Allocated $8,000 to our Centennial project
  • Made a $15,400 Foundation contribution – 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club
  • Donated $2,000 to scholarships - Hope Mt. Residential Training in Brazil
  • Supported Ambassadorial scholar program
  • Received two Paul Harris Fellowships for club RI support

Local/Community Support

  • Awarded five $2,500 academic scholarships and $1,500 to summer enrichment
  • Sponsored two attendees to Youth Leadership camp
  • Participated in the Salvation Army bell ringing fund raiser
  • Established an Interact club at Forsyth Country Day School
  • Held a book drive benefitting Forest Hills and Kimberley Park
  • Recognized our club’s first Teacher of the Year
  • Launched a book bag program to encourage academic excellence
  • Sponsored BookMarks, a community literacy initiative
  • Created a holiday toy drive with corporate sponsorship by Kaplan
  • Held a food drive and supported the area Food Bank
  • Raised money to purchase telephone calling cards for troops
  • Conducted club meetings on site at Bethabara and Forsyth Tech

Club Service

  • Reformatted club website, adding photos
  • Continued quick start orientation, adding Willingness to Serve survey
  • Recruited 12 new members for a 3% net growth
  • Initiated the Family of Rotary committee with special events including: Warthogs game, WFU football, Zoo trip , SciWorks evening, and Raylen tour
  • Held three socials, including a silent auction fund raiser
  • Established the Stratford Rotary Benevolence Fund at the WS Foundation
  • Received TV and print media coverage for various programs

Awards

  • Received a District grant for “Books, Book Bags and BookMarks” project
  • Received RI’s Presidential Citation for outstanding excellence
  • Received a Four Avenues of Service Award for an outstanding club Rotarian

Activities 2002-2003

Stratford Rotary had another great year in 2002-2003:

  • 15+ new members

  • Awarded 3 new Paul Harris Fellowship

  • 140 Sustaining Members of the Rotary Foundation

  • Held two social events, including our 35th Anniversary Spring Social
  • Continued development on our website
  • Planned a Rotary Centennial Project based on solicited member input for the Rotary year 2004-05
  • Held our first Club Assembly meeting to update membership on club activities and do Member Survey
  • Our sponsored Ambassadorial Scholarship applicant was accepted by RI and will study abroad in Rotary year 2003-04
  • Contributed:
    o Five $2500 scholarships to Forsyth County students
    o $2000 in Summer Enrichment Scholarships
    o $1000 to the Youth Leadership Program at Forsyth Country Day
    o $5000 to the International Polio Plus Campaign

Activities 2001-2002

Under the Leadership of President Ed Robbins, Stratford Rotary had a great year in 2001-2002:

  • 17 new members

  • 3 new Paul Harris Fellows

  • 65 Sustaining Members of the Rotary Foundation

  • Housed two foreign exchange teenagers

  • Held three social events

  • Got our website up and running

  • Contributed:

    • Five $2500 scholarships to Forsyth County students

    • $2000 in Summer Enrichment Scholarships

    • $1000 to the 9/11 fund

    • $1000 to the Youth Leadership Program at Forsyth Country Day

    • $5200 to the Winston-Salem Children's Museum

    • $3000 to a Rotary International Project in Brazil
