PROGRAM FEATURES...

September 4 - Our speaker today was Don Kirkman, Executive Director of the Piedmont Triad
Partnership. Mr. Kirkman addressed the issue of how Winston-Salem is perceived as a city and as a part of the Triad region. The leadership of Winston-Salem needs to look outside of the city and be collaborative and work together for the region. It took years for Raleigh and Durham to stop being individuals and working against each other and pull together for the good of both. We need to think world class, change colors and look outside the box. We need to stop thinking how we perceive ourselves and look at how others perceive us. Winston-Salem needs to redefine what is best for us. The Triad collectively can be a tremendous calling card for all cities, not just Greensboro. Thank you Mr. Kirkman for your look into the future.

September 11 - Lawrence Boening, CEO of Data Chambers Data Storage/Disaster Recovery, brought us a very informative and interesting talk today. Mr. Boening’s talk was so very appropriate today on the anniversary of September 11. Mr. Boening and his company had already been working on his program for preserving and recovering data in the event of a disaster before September 11. That day just brought it to fruition. When a business interruption happens, such as September 11 or the most recent blackout, there are billions of dollars of lost revenue. Mr. Boening showed slides of the building where his business is housed, the former AT&T building on Old Lexington Road. This building was built to military specifications and has 1,400 square feet below ground. With their networking technology, large scale systems, and subterranean vaults Data Chambers can offer anyone a business solution that gives them the assurance that they can stay in business regardless of the event, i.e. ice storm, blackout. With these solutions your lifeblood does not know interruption. Data Chambers is in the business of doing business. .
