Foundation News:
The 2003 Rotary Foundation Banquet was November 6, 2003 at High Point Country Club. Thanks to Loy McGill, Ed Robbins, Tom Eshelman, Bobby Sprinkle, and Gerry Malmo who attended on behalf of our club. How timely, November being Foundation month, that Stratford Rotary should participate in the International program, “Adopt A Child/Save A Child”. We contributed $2,000 and the Foundation is matching it for the digging of four wells in Brazil. This is what the Foundation is all about. Thank you Tom Eshelman and Matthew Simmons for your time and dedication in the research of this program.

Dates To Remember:
November 13 - Board Meeting 11:45
December 4 - Holiday Social & Auction
December 18 - Meeting at Bethabara

PROGRAM FEATURES............

October 30 - What can I say about our program today that hasn’t already been said. Our speaker today was our own Jeff Owens with his ACC predictions for the upcoming basketball season. As always, Jeff is one of our favorite programs of the year. We always look forward to his wit and his forecast. Thank you Jeff for a great program.

November 6 - Our speaker today was Simon Johnson, Executive Director, Quality Schools. In 1991 a group of dedicated and concerned citizens in the community of Winston-Salem recognized the need for improved quality in the education of children and the value of having parents actively involved in all aspects of the education of their children. They began the pursuit to provide a school where children could received an affordable state-of-the-art academic education that would be tailored to their cultural needs, learning styles, and have a proactive approach to teaching self discipline. Finally, in July 1992, Quality Education Institute, a private elementary school opened. Mr. Simon talked about the success stories of the school and how they deal with discipline situations. Thank you Mr. Simon for a very interesting and informative talk.
