ANNOUNCEMENTS, NEWS &
INFORMATION................
DATES TO
REMEMBER:November 18 - Board Meeting 11:45
December 9 - Annual
Holiday Social and Silent Auction
OUR
THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO KATHY ACTON AND HER FAMILY.
Kathy Acton
became a proud grandmother last Thursday when her daughter had a nine pound baby
boy. Unfortunately, Kathy was notified yesterday that her son was in a bad car
wreck in Prague. Her son is in a coma in a military hospital in
Prague.
UPDATE ON HARLEY AFFELDT.
Harley is progressing well after his back surgery. He will be on medical
leave until December, when he hopes to join us at Rotary
again.
UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS:
Everyone remember to bring your
can goods this Thursday. As I said in the email, all of the can goods will be
donated to the Food Bank to help the less fortunate.
Invitations for
our Holiday Social and Silent Auction have gone out. I hope everyone will attend
and contribute to the Silent Auction. All donations are welcome. We would
especially like for anyone with vacation homes to donate some time. In light of
the announcement about Kathy Acton's son, it is very important that everyone who
has been contacted by Kathy in regards to donating items for the auction, or if
you have already given Kathy an item, please contact Charlie Chatham, Loy
McGill, or Margaret Warren. We do not know how long Kathy will be gone and we
must move forward with the Auction.
Celebrating 100 years of Rotary
Together - February 23, 2005. You are invited to a special birthday party. The
birthday party will be at the Koury Convention Center at Four Seasons, in
Greensboro. We will be talking about this more in the future.
PROGRAM FEATURES............
November 4 - Gwynne Taylor and
Jane Carmichael brought us a fascinating and informative talk and slide
presentation on the history of the Single Sister's House Project in Old Salem.
We learned facts about early life in Old Salem and how instrumental the women
were that history.
November 11 - Today we had a delightful and
very talented group of young people perform for us. The Forsyth Country Day
School Choral Ensemble brought us a program in song. This choral group has
performed worldwide and received many awards for their
talent.

WANT TO PROPOSE A NEW MEMBER? HERE ARE THE STEPS
FOR PROPOSING A NEW MEMBER:
1. Complete the Membership Proposal form and turn it in to Margaret.
2. Margaret will pass the form to Vernon Ferrell, who will assign a classification;
determine if the person is qualified for membership. Vernon then informs Charlie
Chatham, who will present the candidate for membership to the Board for approval.
3. After the Board's approval, Margaret publishes the proposed member's name
in the bulletin to allow the general membership to approve the person. Members
are given seven days in the event that there is any objection.
4. Margaret then contacts the person proposing so he/she can contact the new
member.
5. This is followed by an orientation conducted by Sue Carson.
The Process of proposing and approving a new member takes about three weeks.
