PROGRAM FEATURES............
March 24 - Ernie Pitt, Editor of "The Chronicle" weekly newspaper was our speaker today. He told us how he got started in the newspaper business and founded "The Chronicle". He virtually started the business with no money, and no capital. He sold papers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Chronicle is the largest Afro-American newspaper in North Carolina. The goal for his newspaper has been to provide unbiased news for all communities. Thank you Mr. Pitt for your hard work.

March 31 - Our speaker today was Ben Wilson, Founder and Director of Children of Vietnam. Mr. Wilson spent time in Vietnam for Reynolds Tobacco Company many years ago. He was so impressed with the friendliness and gentleness of the people there that he continued to return there to try to help the children. The mortality rate of the children there was not good. Most premature babies died. Through the program he started, they can now save two out of every ten premature babies. He and his staff of three work with the people in four areas; health care, education, nutrition, and housing. His work has provided ventilators for premature babies, schools and bicycles for the children to ride to school so they can get home sooner to work to help support their families, a boat to take children across the river to school, rice, pigs and bamboo shoots to feed themselves and to sell to help support themselves, and has built 200 houses (at a cost of $800 each with an inside toilet) to help shelter the people which also helps cut down on sickness and disease. Thank you Mr. Wilson for your dedication and loving work for the people of Vietnam.
