Everyone is invited to attend, on Wednesday evening, June 15, 2005 at 5:30,
the dedication of the playground Stratford Rotary is donating to the city of
Winston-Salem in honor of the 100th anniversary of Rotary International. The
location is Country Club Road beside the Cricket's Nest.
We will have a special dedication followed by BBQ and
all the trimmings for all Stratford Rotarians and their families. Stratford
Rotary's children will be the first to play on the new equipment.
Please let Margaret know if you plan to attend and how many. Call
784-6276 and leave a message or email stratfordrotary@triad.rr.com. I will also have signup sheets at the meeting this week.
THANK YOU SO MUCH:
I would like to thank everyone for their patience with me over
the last several months during my father's illness and passing, but I can't
begin to thank you enough for all the thoughts, prayers, phone calls and cards
I have received during this time. The love and concern I have felt has been
overwhelming. The azalea I received from you will be a welcome addition to my
garden. It is so fitting that I had an azalea, exactly the same color, to die
this winter. Now I have one to replace it and when I look at it I will remember
my father and Stratford Rotary.

CONGRATULATIONS …. to
Tina Gwyn, Teacher of the Year at Kimberly Park Elementary School. Last Thursday,
Stratford Rotary representatives, Charlie Chatham, Veronica Black, Susan Raymer,
and Margaret Warren honored Ms. Gwyn with a check for $400.00 to purchase books
for the school library and a personal $100.00 gift certificate. We also had
a little party for her Kindergarten class. The children were so excited and
appreciative. They love Ms. Gwyn very much. it was plain to see why she was
Teach of the Year. Later that same day, Veronica Black and Susan Raymer presented
Kimberly Park 5th graders with a fully stocked book bag ready for
Middle School. What a rewarding experience that was. It is so wonderful to see
Stratford Rotary dollars at work and know the impact it might have on those
students. We all look forward to continuing our support for Kimberly Park next
year.
PROGRAM FEATURES............
Thanks to Jim Bunn for our great May programs. On May 5, our own Bob Leak filled
in for Pete Brunstetter and gave us a great talk on how Dell got here, what's
happening now and what to look for in the future. Bob, Pete couldn't have been
any better that you were. Unfortunately I missed Marshall Bass's talk. I wasn't
able to attend the Spring Social on Thursday evening, May 19 but everyone there
had a great time. On May 26, Jose Isasi brought us a great message about the
Hispanic/Latino community and how they impact the economy in Piedmont Triad
North Carolina.
June 2 - Two of our own, Patty Mead and Tom Battle brought us classification
talks today. Patty had a very interesting road to where she is today from construction
to corporate trainer to Director of Development at Senior Services. Patty talked
about the mission of Senior Services and the work they do. Patty's compassion
and love for people have made her a success in her business. Tom has always
been in the financial business with his start in Richmond then his move here
to Wachovia. Two years ago Tom went to work for Smith Barney and formed a team,
including our own Steve Phelps, to serve people is all aspects of their financial
lives. Tom's love of family, church, and people made him realize that success
in not measured in money but in the significance in what you do. Tom is a success.
Thank you Patty and Tom for an excellent program today.
