They are both Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors and charter members of the Rotary Foundation’s Bequest Society.

District Governor Morris will make the "Annual District Governor Visit" to Stratford Rotary on Thursday, August 25, 2005. Everyone please try to attend the meeting and show the Governor our support of Rotary.

CONGRATULATIONS TO STRATFORD ROTARY on our Centennial Project.  If you didn't attend the dedication of our new playground you missed a treat.  The City Park representatives were there to receive this playground from Stratford Rotary and the Press coverage was phenomenal.  I hope everyone saw and read the article in the Winston-Salem Journal on Thursday, June 16,  2005.  What a tribute to Stratford Rotary and Rotary International this project is!  The children of our own members were the first to enjoy this new playground.

Special thanks and recognition were given to Peggs Recreation for building the playground and special thanks to our own Vernon Ferrell for spearheading the project.  Stratford Rotary honored Vernon's contributions by naming him a Paul Harris Fellow.  Congratulations Vernon for a job well done.  We also need to thank our Past Presidents, Charlie Chatham, Loy McGill, Tom Eshelman and Ed Robbins for their vision and efforts in raising the money to make this project happen; but, the project could never have happened if not for the generous donations of the members of Stratford Rotary.

The fellowship and food were great and a good time was had by all who attended.

IT’S ROTARY FOOTBALL FELLOWSHIP KICK-OFF TIME

YOUR BENEVOLENCE CONTRIBUTIONS AT WORK:

Dear Members of the Stratford Rotary Club,
Thank you so much for your generous donations to Kimberley Park School. Your visit to my classroom last week to honor me as Kimberley Park’s Teacher of the year is a memory that I will cherish. Thank you for being so supportive or our school and public education. We will be able to buy many new books for our Media Center with your substantial donation. Thank you for helping us help our students. Your group is awesome! Sincerely, Tina Gwyn

Dear Stratford Rotary,
Thank you for your scholarship donation. This allowed a student to enjoy the Summer Enrichment experience. The children have had such fun taking classes like computers, Japanese, forensic science, Odyssey of the Mind, theater production and many more. This program enables students to have hands-on experience with subjects that they may never have the chance to experience again. Thank you for believing in the youth of today and for making a difference in their lives.
Sincerely, Karen S. Cole, Program Coordinator

PROGRAM FEATURES............

Once again our programs this month have been outstanding. On June 9, Tom Denenberg, Curator of American Art, Reynolda House spoke to us. Tom showed slides and shared some history of the Reynolda House and brought us up to date on what is offered at the Reynolda House. June 16 was a sobering and thought provoking program brought to us by Jerry Pubantz of Salem College. Mr. Pubantz talked about what he feels is the coming Civil War in Iraq. He showed how history has repeated itself. He said the issue with Iraq has taken us away from what we should be focused on – terrorism.  On a lighter note, on June 23, our own Jeff Owens brought us his predictions on the NBA Draft. Jeff used humor and statistics to justify his choices. He drifted into his predictions for the upcoming ACC season. On June 30 we were encouraged to get serious about our heart when Dr. Andre’ J. Duerinckx, M.D., Ph.D. Director of Cardiac MR, CT & Nuclear Imaging spoke to us. Dr. Duerinckx talked about coronary disease and what we can do about it. Forsyth Radiological Associates has a new Coronary CT Angiography machine that can detect coronary disease earlier and save lives.
