PROGRAM FEATURES............
August 19- Mike Peterson, Women’s Basketball Coach, WFU was our speaker today. Mike had a sinning season last year and went to the third round of the NIT. He started some momentum for building a basketball program. There is lots of excitement and the fans are growing in numbers. In women’s basketball you will see a game that you can relate to and the play is “crazy hard”. Come to your first women’s basketball game and Mike guarantees you will come back. Tickets are available at WFU Basketball Office. Mike offered to buy anyone (and guest) a ticket to the first game. Just go to the office and say you were at Stratford Rotary and Mike sent you. This year is college women’s basketball at its best.

August 26– District Governor Phil Morris visited with us today. District Governor Morris met with the Board and committee chairs at 11:30. District Governor spoke to the membership at lunch. He started by introducing himself and talking about his experience with joining the Furnitureland Rotary Club. Soon after he joined he was asked to become the bulletin editor. He took us on a trip using snapshots of his life and Rotary experiences. He joined Rotary because he was asked. We should continue to ask and invite guests to club meetings. When a new member joins, give them something to do to make it meaningful. Everyone is different and has different perspectives; value that. Phil deeply believes in the Rotary Foundation. Supporting the Rotary Foundation is the right thing to do. The Foundation gives us resources and friends around the world. Each of Phil’s snapshots represents the love and magic of Rotary. Rotary is a window to the world. Rotary is me – Rotary is you. SERVICE ABOVE SELF; it’s who we are; it’s what we do.
