PROGRAM FEATURES............
February 16 - Dr. Sherry Bridges, Marketing Professor at WFU spoke to us today on “Marketing Then and Now”. Ms. Bridges compared the past to the present. She described the progression like this: Mail: snail mail to Fed X to fax to email to instant messenger to text messaging on our computers and cell phones; Movies: theater to drive-in to movies on television to VHS tapes to cable tv to satellite to DVD to TBO to movies on computers, cell phones and Ipods; Music: hi-fi to LP to stereo to 8 track to cassette to DVD to CD to MP3. We think things are always changing, but things don’t change, we change our way of looking at them. Those who only look to the past or present miss the future. Change is constant and the pace of change is dizzying but marketing is still the same, the product, the price, the place and the promotion. Thank you Ms. Bridges for a very interesting talk.

February 23 – We were presented with another great program today. Parker Lovell of Cash Lovell Stables and Riding Academy was with us today. Ms. Lovell talked about how their 3 generation business got started and evolved from just stables to the riding academy. One of the most interesting parts of the program was when she talked about and described the American Saddlebred horses they have. The history of this horse is very fascinating. The horse was bred for the aristocracy and was a beautiful and graceful horse with a long slender neck, a tall erect head with ears always perked up. The horse prances on all four legs and is the most incredible show horse today. It is a rare breed only making up 3% of the horse population in the world. During the Civil War this beautiful horse rose to the occasion and became a battle horse, then a plow horse after the war to the incredible show horse today. Ms. Lovell talked about the riding academy and its students and how riding and working with horses had helped so many people. They have students as young as 3 and as old as 75. Ms. Lovell showed slides of some of their students. Parker and her husband Cash love what they do and feel truly blessed to be able to do what they enjoy doing. Thank you Ms. Lovell for a wonderful program.
