ABOUT
OUR MEMBERS……….Long time member Forrest (Buddy) Diemer
passed away last week. Buddy had been unable to attend meetings for the past
couple of years but he always loved Rotary. Please remember his family at this
time.
Remember our own Jim Hewett. Jim is experiencing some serious health problems
and doctors are not quite sure what the problem is. He and Carol need our thoughts
and prayers at this time.
We welcomed back Shari Covitz at the meeting today. Shari had serious back surgery
but appears to be doing well.
LET’S KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK……Our quest to become a 100% Paul Harris Club is getting closer. We only need 35 more to complete our mission. When President Bobby contacts you please say yes. We would like to have these completed by the first of April so the foundation will have time to process them and give us credit for this year.
PROGRAM FEATURES............
March 2 - Pat Taylor, chairman of the board, and Jo Ellen Carson, executive director of Leadership Weinston-Salem explained the rejuvenated Leadership Winston-Salem program. After a year of study, with our own Alan and Ellen Cox as consultants, LWS has changed its program to reflect changes in the community and its leadership. The new class, which began this fall, has 45 participants and is involved in team projects during the course. Each program day emphasizes one of the principles of leadership. Several Stratford Rotarians are involved in producing the program days and advising the projects. The LWS program also needs corporate support and nominations for participants. Thanks to Susan Carson for this write up.
March 9 – Rick Rembielak, Head Baseball Coach, WFU, talked to us today about going from playing baseball to coaching baseball. Coach Rembielak is in his second season at WFU and loves every minute of it. Playing a college sport requires structure, organization, discipline and a routine in order to do your best at your sport and make the grades. Coach Rembielak teaches this to his Diamond Deacons and it shows. The team is having a winning season. Coach Remielak talked about the uniqueness of Wake Forest and that is why it is easy to sell WFU to potential players.
