ANNOUNCEMENTS, NEWS & INFORMATION................
Your Board met and approved two persons for membership in Stratford Rotary: Please check your emailed or mailed bulletin for information.
It’s Valentine’s Day in April! We might not have had a special program for Valentine’s Day, but Stratford Rotary has a unique opportunity on April 19, 2007. Our program that day will be NCSA’s Chancellor John Mauceri and Drama Dean Gerald Freedman. The North Carolina School of the Arts will present a new production of “West Side Story” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the work. Chancellor Mauceri worked closely with Leonard Berstein for 18 years. He is conducting the 2007 production. Drama Dean Gerald Freedman will be directing the work. Director Freedman was assistant director of the original 1957 Broadway production as conceived by Jerome Robbins and co-director of the 1980 Broadway revival. They will also be bringing some of the cast members to give us a sample of what’s in store. This will be such a special program that we thought members might want to bring their spouse or guest that day. I will have a signup sheet at the next two meetings or you may call me at 784-8667 to sign up you guest. We need to let Forsyth Country Club know of our numbers.
Another special program…It was listed in the last bulletin that Stratford Rotary would not meet on Thursday, April 5, 2007 prior to Good Friday. We have a special opportunity to have the Group Study Exchange Team from Scotland speak to us that day. It is the only time they can come. Please make a note that we will have a meeting that day. Reynolda Rotary has changed their schedule as well. They do not usually have a meeting on Good Friday, but they will be meeting that day to host the Scotland team that day. Please come and show support for our club as well as the group from Scotland.
Thank you! Stratford Rotary received a very nice thank you note from Sheila Graham and the Kimberly Park School Family for our generous donation of $800 to help their teachers buy supplies.Keep an ear out…There is another great evening at River Birch Restaurant in the making. We will tell you the date later.

PROGRAM FEATURES
March 15 – County Commissioner Ted Kaplan spoke today and gave us a Forsyth County Report Card. Commissioner Kaplan is visiting all public facilities that way he can see where Forsyth County is and where we are headed.
March 22 – Dr. Al Stubbs, son of our own Dr. Allston Sutbbs, spoke to us today. Dr. Stubbs is an orthopedic surgeon who has returned to our area after being in Colorado for 17 years. Dr. Stubbs worked primarily in sports medicine specializing in “hips”. He started the NC Sports Medicine Institute here in Winston-Salem. He talked about the newest trends in hip replacement and showed a video and described the anatomy of the hip and the different options when dealing with hip pain. He also works on shoulders and knees. Knee and hip pain and problems usually go hand in hand. Exercise is good but treadmills and yoga are not recommended but riding a bicycle is better.
