ANNOUNCEMENTS, NEWS & INFORMATION................
Thank you …for your support of our Book Bag Program for Kimberly Park Elementary School. Your generosity provided us with $810 towards the supplies. Susan Raymer presented the book bags to 32 5th graders advancing to middle school. After the ceremony, many parents told Susan how grateful they were for the supplies and what a burden it lifted off their shoulders. This is such a worthwhile and needed program and we are making a difference in the lives of these children and their parents. Susan also participated in a party for the children in the class of Pre-K teacher Sharon McCollum, our Teacher of the Year at Kimberly Park. Susan presented Ms. McCollum with 2 checks. One check was for $100 for Ms. McCollum personally and the other was for $400 to buy books for the library in her honor. Many, many thanks to Susan for all her work and dedication to this project.
Come and socialize…..There will be no lunch meeting on Thursday, June 21, 2007. We will have a social gathering at Foothills Brewery, 638 W. Fourth Street. The bar is open from 5:30 to 7:00 and President Jay Luke will buy your first drink. The bar will close at 7:00 but everyone is welcome to stay and have dinner. Jay says the food is great with a different atmosphere. Come and join the fun and get a free drink and credit for attending a meeting.
Do you want to be a leader…..Might you be interested in applying to attend Leadership Winston-Salem? It is a great way to learn about the City, to network and meet other leaders interested in serving on Boards or working in ways to improve the community. It's a wonderful opportunity for leaders to connect with other leaders, be educated about the community, and become energized to serve and improve the community! The deadline for application is July 31st. Tuition is $2000.
The new year is coming….. and great plans are being made. Incoming President Jeff Clark and his Board are making plans to have a great year and they hope you will be a part of it. Program Chairman Jimmy Hoots is working on the list of dates and people to secure the programs. If your name comes up, please do your best to get a program. I will be sending the list out next week. We will not have a meeting on Thursday, July 5, 2007. Our first meeting will be July 12, 2007. Please come and be prepared to have your Rotary membership questions answered.
