October 2 – Our speaker today was Bob Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn talked today about this transition from a former executive at Krispy Kreme to being an entrepreneur. He walked us through the process of deciding to leave your corporate job to owning your own business. He decided that he wanted to control his own time, make his own decisions and make a difference in other people’s lives, but he didn’t know what he wanted to do. After research, being taken in by shysters, and taking to many, many people, he decided on kitchen and bath designs.
October 9 – Les Merritt, State Auditor, brought us greeting from Raleigh. As the State Auditor, he is the taxpayers watchdog. He is proud of what he does. He audits the Revenue Office and the DOT. He said that these are interesting times and lots of things have been happening. Government needs to prioritize. Government does many things well but it tries to do too many things. They need to put money where it’s needed. They need to plan, set goals and stick to it. Government can’t hide the bottom line, not like big business.
Of the things we thing, say, and do…
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
