Minutes of the BOARD MEETING NOV 19th
The board met Nov 19th and granted Randy Skidmore Honorary status due to health problems and his outstanding number of years with the club. There were no new members proposed or leaves of absence asked for. We lost 1member to business changes, Jack Mantaro. Jack has opened Blue Ridge Chocolates, a gourmet chocolates shop,in his hometown of Elkin and invites all to stop in.

Susan King and Rachel Barron reported on the progress of the Holiday Social meal and entertainment. Chet Cosgrove reported the number of attendees to date.

The board discussed having a membership committee instead of just one person responsible for new member orientation. The next orientation for new members will be held in January. The date has yet to be specified. A list of suggested activities for new members concerning club opportunities was brought up as a way to involve them more directly early on. A New Member Social was also suggested as a way to help to get to know our newest members.

It was decided that we need a timeline of events for the year to keep us on track with all of the meetings for District and RI functions as well as our own events. One is in the works for the remainder of the year.

The board discussed sharing pictures of recent meetings with District 7690 and decided that the Model Release form is prohibitive. It would require chasing down anyone recognizable in the photos and obtaining their permission for the photo to be used by District 7690 and RI for publication, or in electronic form, for district material.

Effective January 1st RI will put in place Directors & Officers/Employment Practices Liability Insurance. Fletcher Wilson will look into the need to have coverage before January 1st and how that impacts the club.

Gerry agreed to write a letter to one, and Susan King agreed to contact another, member who is extremely delinquent in paying their dues. (These actions have already resulted in one member paying in full.)

A discussion of the club maintaining our 100% Paul Harris Fellows status was tabled until the next board meeting due to a lack of time.

Having no other items up for consideration the meeting was adjourned. The next Board Meeting will be January 21, 2010. All club members are invited to attend.
